My job has encompassed quite a range throughout my tenure here at CAP. I was originally hired to work on the ROLM phone system and the T1 carrier. They were expanding their use of the T1 carrier to include the in ground cable with repeaters and over our microwave system to all of our remote facilities. I expanded to work on the different phone systems that were installed at our pump plants plus I migrated over into the IT group which was kind of in its infancy so to speak when I came on board. I first worked on the 10 base T system that utilized a 10 base 5 backbone. We migrated over to 16 meg token ring then added all of our plants via IBM 2212 and 2216 routers using PPP protocol. We then changed back to and all inclusive ethernet network, once again carrying it out to our remote sites through the use of Cisco equipment. This past year, we deployed Cisco Unified Communications throughout our entire system; our main campus plus all of our remotes. We have removed the existing systems, ROLM and Iwatsu and disposed of them. We have also been in the process of replacing our in ground carrier T1 cable with single mode fiber which will increase both speed and bandwidth availability and it negates the need for repeaters. It's never dull, we are always moving forward with newer, better and faster technology. I love it; they've been good to me.

I install, maintain and service Cisco Call Manager and Unity 8.6. I install voice and data network connections and any and all related infrastructure equipment, switches, routers, etc. I install network cabling, patch panels, racks and cabinets and I am a certified fiber installer as well. I work on T1 circuits and T1 multiplex equipment. I am factory trained on Tellabs DCS, models 530, 532 and the 5320L. I am proficient on ADC Kentrox, T-Serve and T-Smart CSU/DSU. I am also proficient on the Atlas 550. I am also a factory trained, certified technician on ROLM, Iwatsu PBXs along with Phonemail, AVT Call Express and Active Voice a Repartee. I have worked on and I'm familiar with NEC, Toshiba, Panasonic, Tie, Nitsuko and Samsung telephone switches. I have had my own small interconnect since 1989 and I'm a licensed low voltage electrical contractor holding an L-67 license. I also install and configure Cisco routers and switches to include but not limited to, 1800, 2500, 2600, 3700, 3800 and 3900 routers, 2512, 2524, 2950, 2960, 3512, 24s and 48s, 3550, 3560, 3750, 4006, 6506, 6509 and 7200 core switches and access devices.

I got my Low Voltage Contractor's License and started doing business as a cable installer contracting to Telex Communications in Phoenix. Around 1990, they changed policy and no longer used contractors so I took a job with Norstan Communications in Phoenix. I started out on one of the three installation teams, installing PBXs, Voicemail, cabling,etc. Norstan sent me to a variety of schools and I was certified on ROLM, Iwatsu,Samsung, Panasonic, Tie, Nitsuko, Some of the Toshibe switches and some of the NEC switches also. I also learned the Saturn IIE PBX on my own. In 1994 and 1995, Norstan began sending me to data schools over in California, schools such as Synoptics, IBM. After leaving Norstan and coming to CAP, some of my larger customers wanted me to continue doing work at their locations. I had a 2,000,000 dollar liability policy and was bonded which met their criteria. My list of clients included Az. Dept of Environmental Quality, Az Game and Fish, IBM, Motorola, Petsmart among others. I performed routine maintenance as well as moves, adds and changes on their PBXs and Voicemail Units. When I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2002, I turned my customers over to a friend of mine who ran KOSS Communications and I've only done a limited amount of side work since then. I have been in remission since July 4, 2003. Praise GOD.

My main focus were moves, adds and changes on a variety of PBXs and key systems.They included Iwatsu Adix, Iwatsu Zt-d, Intertel, Tie, NEC, ROLM 8000, 9000 and ROLM 9751-9005. I would also perform service on the above mentioned boxes if required. My customers included IBM, Petsmart, AZ Game & Fish, ADEQ, Az Dept of Insurance and Az Dept of Revenue, City of Peoria and others.
