Chair of the British Computer Society Primary Healthcare Specialist Group, which represents the interests of all working in primary care health informatics. I have also now served two years as Immediate Past Chair and have been asked to remain on the Committee with responsibility for events.

As Chair of the PHCSG I sat on the Joint General Practice Information Technology Group, made up of members of BMA, RCGP, Clinical System User Groups and the PHCSG. This group provides input into national IT policy, which has to be presented to it before implementation.

UKCHIP has been established to promote professionalism in Health Informatics and the certification of those who work in the profession. It operates a voluntary Public Register of Health Informatics professionals who meet clearly defined standards of competence and agree to work to a common code of conduct.
