RIT has had a team of twelve students, eight starters and four reserves, participate in the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) every year since 2008. This year, I not only practiced with the team, I made the the team as one of the twelve members on the team. As a team we will work to secure and maintain a business-like infrastructure while under attack from the Red Team. This infrastructure includes multiple Operating Systems as well as multiple services (DNS, SSH, Email, Web Servers, and more) and a few networking devices (routers, switches, access points). As a team we are also responsible for completing injects, which would replicate our boss telling us to do something like add ten users to the system so that they can remotely connect to our systems. At the end of the day, we are scored based on uptime, completion of injects and incident response.
