Work with other mentors and students for my high school's robotics team to design, build and program a robot from scratch that is competition ready in a six week time period. The challenge changes year to year and usually requires teamwork among FIRST Robotics Competition teams. I excel in helping the students with mechanical and electrical components of the robot while also helping students gain confidence in their ability to build a robot, speak publicly to large crowds, and reach out to big corporations asking them to sponsor the team. Through this role, I assisted other students as they tackle the introduction Computing Security course (CSEC-101) at Rochester Institute of Technology. This course covers the various aspects of the cyber-security field as well as some non-technical aspects of the field. This includes introductions to tools such as nmap, Wireshark, and Metasploit as well as discuss aspects of the field like ethics, data security, threats, and more. My biggest responsibility is to grade the labs completed by the students and help them when they need help.

I formerly worked as a teaching assistant for one section of the Network Services class offered in the IST department. This class focuses on a few important and common network protocols such as Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). As a teaching assistant it was my responsibility to help guide the students to a successful semester by giving them feedback and assistance during and outside of class hours and while grading their lab assignments.

RIT has had a team of twelve students, eight starters and four reserves, participate in the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) every year since 2008. This year, I not only practiced with the team, I made the the team as one of the twelve members on the team. As a team we will work to secure and maintain a business-like infrastructure while under attack from the Red Team.This infrastructure includes multiple Operating Systems as well as multiple services (DNS, SSH, Email, Web Servers, and more) and a few networking devices (routers, switches, access points). As a team we are also responsible for completing injects, which would replicate our boss telling us to do something like add ten users to the system so that they can remotely connect to our systems. At the end of the day, we are scored based on uptime, completion of injects and incident response.

I worked inside the Security Operations Center, I developed a program in Golang which wouldhash every file on an operating system and send each hash to a mySQL database. For ease of access to the hashes, I also created a web application which pulled the hashes from the database. Also spent some time scripting in Python and Bash to search for files and scrape a remote API manual so we could have a local copy. In addition to all of this, I worked to integrate three APIs (McAfee SIEM, Palo Alto Panorama, McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator) into the workflow of the SOC. Built a Python application to interface with the Panorama API to decrease the complexity of the API.

On this internship, I partnered with the Border Security Division of Ultimate Software's cyber-security group. I was tasked with various projects that revolved around the perimeter of the company's network. One such project was creating the rules for parsing logs between the different security appliances so that the team could use more user friendly web applications to search the log information.

Configure network monitoring devices to watch for malicious data in order to create better firewall rules. Monitor and analyze network activity and traces from these devices in order to better protect the company.

Watching kids (varied from ages 6-8, one age group per summer though), playing with kids, working with other counselors to ensure the kids were safe and had fun.
