About Ruben Vargas
I feel a commitment to be part of community development in those populations at need and I am passionate about social justice, politics and issues that shape our environment everyday. My years of experience in staffing agencies, retail and with non-profit organizations have given me the tools required to be successful in any position offered within the field. As a staffing specialist I worked closely with multiple human resources departments as well as potential employees to find employment opportunities for Los Angeles residents including general labor and administrative jobs. I worked closely with workers compensation claims, unemployment benefits and conflict management in order to meet deadlines. In the past 10 years I have also developed strong communication and team leadership skills that have given me the confidence to battle any task at hand. I am interested in outreach and community based development programs. I am also drawn by the aspects of public relations and community organizing in minority communities, passions that give me a drive to work on projects that can benefit our future. Additionally, I am bilingual (English and Spanish) and hold my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with an emphasis on Urban Life and the Environment, from California State University - Los AngelesSpecialties: Spanish speaker/translator, case management, non-profit programs, mental health, government funded projects
