Prepared patients for scheduled surgeries by following pre-established protocols, administering post-surgical pain medication while monitoring for signs of respiratory depression, and providing postop education prior to discharge.

Clinical placement on a respirology/medicine unit. Provided care and emotional support to patients with a wide range of respiratory diseases such as COVID 19, pneumonia, and COPD exacerbations. Effectively worked with a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio. Titrated oxygen therapy in a safe manner to facilitate discharge.

Clinical placement in neurosurgery. Tasks include completing full neurological assessments, recording and monitoring drains, administering oral, IV and IM medications, and performing tracheostomy care

Clinical placement in maternity and pediatrics. Tasks include monitoring infants in the neonatal intensive care unit, setting up kangaroo pumps for infant nutrition, providing emotional and educational support to families, assisting in the delivery of newborns during vaginal and cesarean births, monitoring and preparing postpartum patients for discharge, and working alongside the lactation consultant to assist mothers with breastfeeding their newborn

Clinical placement on an orthopedic surgery unit. Tasks include obtaining and recording patient vitals, aiding patients with ambulation, assisting patients with personal care, administering oral medications and creating individualized care plans for patients by including physical and psychosocial factors
