Ruby Lee is a filmmaker and community organizer born and raised in the Southend of Seattle. At a young age, she was introduced to artists and activists working to foster creative leadership in the community’s young people. She was able to explore realms of her personal identity through youth programming in the Seattle area and has been impacted by organizations like AGE UP, Vera Project, Rain City Rock Camp, and Youth In Focus. For Ruby, access to arts education was vital to who she is a filmmaker today, and believes, that creative expression goes hand in hand with community organizing and social justice work. This core ideology is present in her work as a filmmaker as well. Centering the voices of her community, BIPOC and Queer young people, and female-identifying people. She is committed to the success of her fellow young artists and the amplification of their voices. Ruby is an avid music and coffee lover.
