This role also taught editing skills, how to conduct a live broadcast, as well as a board show or live stream, and differing roles including bug operator, replay, shading, and camera operator. Through this role I had the opportunity to do freelance work with FOX Sports, PAC-12 Network, and ESPN+. I gained valuable hands-on experience and am well-versed in various areas of television production.

This job is seasonal. I started by operating the first-base camera to shoot multiple baseball games throughout the 2019 summer. I now direct/technical direct. Our content is live-streamed and also aired on television. Through this job, I have learned how to operate a professional-style camera, build and tear down equipment, direct/TD, as well as learned one of the most important skills in television - the over-under technique.

As a member of AWSM, I am able to connect with professional sports journalists to build relationships, network, and gain an understanding of industry strategies and skills.

Oregon News was a television class I took to improve my on-air skills and learn how to effectively and properly work in a newsroom. I pitched weekly stories in order to create packages, VO, VOSOTs, readers, and graphics for a live show on television. I also learned to stack a show in a rundown. Each week I had the chance to learn a different role including: assignment editor, producer, assistant producer, news anchor, camera operator, sports anchor, weather anchor, sound director, and floor director to aid in production. Lastly, I gained knowledge in operating a JIB, teleprompter, and audio board.

As a content creator, I was a freelance writer for the Odyssey, which is based out of New York. My content was mostly editorial. During the seven months that I consistently wrote for The Odyssey, I bylined 23 articles.

My responsibilities included social media outreach, storytelling, and frequent posting. I learned the value of social media as a tool for journalism. In addition, I was in charge of organizing meetings and panels with professional journalists to come speak with students about how to prepare for the industry. I also conducted weekly staff meetings and occasional fundraisers.

Duck TV is a student-run broadcast group that aims to gain experience in reporting, producing, editing, filming, interviewing, script-writing, and anchoring. As a reporter in the sports division, I attended collegiate sporting events, filmed, interviewed coaches and athletes, conducted my own standup, edited and published my own video package. I also made my own feature and news story packages as well. As an anchor, I found my own stories, wrote a script, anchored, and gained feedback on my work. This experience allowed me to develop an anchor and reporter reel and gave me the opportunity to improve my portfolio.
