Much to my joy and chagrin, my five year old likes to ask questions. Questions about what things are, how things work, and why things work. He gets his curiosity honestly, as I, too, have the same drive to ask questions and seek answers. This drive pushed me to seek advanced training in both qualitative and quantitative research methods when completing my doctoral program in developmental psychology. My son has YouTube kids, Google, and Siri to help him answer the questions I can’t… while I have in-depth interviews, surveys, and experiments. As an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, I have taught and mentored more than 1,500 students since 2011. I particularly love teaching qualitative and quantitative methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My ability to harness a variety of methodological tools means I don’t feel the same limitations others may encounter when developing research questions. I’ve successfully completed, published, and consulted on studies using both qualitative (i.e., focus groups, in-depth interviews, story circles, surveys) and quantitative (parametric and nonparametric; correlational, experimental, and quasi-experimental) research methods.I have consulted on qualitative research projects for NIH funded grants, university commissioned projects, nonprofit organizations, research institutes, and academic researchers. I currently have availability to handle full commissioned research projects and/or training workshops.
