Experienced Fire Captain for the Coon Rapids Fire Department. A Captain in Coon Rapids assists in department training, personnel management, incident management, and occasionally payroll. I’ve been a Lead Instructor and the Administrator for our Fire Exploring Post since 2017, which is geared toward young adults interested in a career in Fire and EMS. I've also served on the North Metro Specialized Rescue Team since 2015. Other positions to note include being a member of our EMS committee and the C-shift Union Representative for Local 1935.I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Administration from Columbia Southern University. Other degrees include an A.A.S. in Fire Technology as well as an A.S. in Fire Science and Administration. I’m also in the process of completing my MN Emergency Management certification. I aim to further my involvement in management roles within the Fire Service at a Chief level.Other work experience to note is 7+ years of ambulance/EMS experience with Life Link iii. From BLS and ALS ground transportation to ALS fixed-wing transport, I have had the opportunity to hone my medical skills. Working for Life Link was a job that heavily involved interacting with the hospital environment and afforded valuable experience coordinating with other healthcare providers.I enjoy problem solving, and continue to build on my leadership skills through attendance at conferences of many types, books and associating with fellow leaders. Most of all, I'm honored to have been able to serve my hometown community since 2003!

Of the almost 7000 calls we respond to every year they consist of fires of all kinds, hazardous material situations, medical calls, motor vehicle crashes.As a Captain, I assist the Battalion Chief with day-to-day operations, and fill certain command roles at incidents. Our membership includes young adults from 14-20 years of age and we focus on firefighting skills and general team building. Normal enrollment is between 6 and 12 members and we currently have 7 advisors to assist with training. Show less
