My responsibilities include Leading the Design For Manufacture Project within GE Grid solutions which is a Continuous Improvement Role . This involves creating innovative and new ideas to reduce manufacturing hours and cut costs on both a technical and manufacturing level. I look to improve anything possible to ensure we are working to the highest possible standard at the lowest possible costs. This role involves working alongside our sister units meaning I have had various visits to Turkey, Paris and India. Managing this project means that I have to show both personal and team skills. On a personal level, I have to arrange and lead any meetings held and ensure everybody is completing their tasks to the deadlines set. I must also, manage facts and figures and present these to senior figures within the company. However, team skills must also be present as these meetings include a strong presence from each area of the workplace so working together to ensure everyone's opinions are heard is a key part of the job.

I have been trained and qualified as an Electrical Design Engineer working on a variety of different transformers from MPT, LPT to HVDC. Noticeably, I have performed various tenders including work in Kenya and been involved in Champa 800kV, KEPCO 530kVDC and Lower Churchill 350kV. This includes using design software, stress analysis and working with BOM's. I am also capable of using AutoCAD 2D.

I finished my role as an Apprentice in the Engineering team and was selected to join the Graduate scheme internally to further my skills. At this stage in my career, I wasn't old enough to have achieved a full degree (which is the standard requirement for a graduate), however, i showed much promise and enthusiasm so i was placed onto the Alstom Grid Graduate Scheme at the age of 20. I have been continuing to work as an Electrical Design Engineer and a Design For Manufacture Innovation Project Leader whilst attending Graduate Scheme courses.
