As the Executive Director of Irrigation Saskatchewan, I lead the organization in advocating and researching the sustainable and efficient use of water resources to support agriculture, industry, and communities across the province. My role focuses on strategic leadership, building partnerships, and facilitating research that enhances the value and impact of irrigation in Saskatchewan. With AE I utilize my passion, skills and experience to advance irrigation projects. I've provided my expertise working on studies and designs from both Lake Diefenbaker and the North Saskatchewan River. On the Westside Irrigation Project, I worked on the distribution portion which connects the producer sprinkler systems to the canals. If built this project would be a multi-billion dollar project bringing massive economic benefits to the people of Outlook, Saskatchewan and Canada by creating jobs, increasing farm revenues, and providing new value-added opportunities. It will also decrease food insecurity by allowing us to grow more produce right here in Saskatchewan instead of relying on foreign markets. I've also had the privilege of designing large-diameter (42") pipelines and optimizing existing irrigation districts by analyzing their systems with WaterCAD. Other projects included:- Pipe design under railways- Pipe design under roads- Cost Analysis- Pumping Efficiency Analysis- Asset Management

Husbandry Farms operates a berry orchard with 7000 Haskap plants, 500 Raspberries, Garlic, Melons and other vegetables. We also dabble in value-added food products such as energy bars, syrups and fillings. We believe that healthy land grows healthy food, people and communities. We strive to be good stewards of the land which supports our commitment to nourish our neighbours with flavour-filled, nutritious foods. I work as a contract engineer primarily working with agricultural water thanks to my extensive knowledge in both Irrigation and Drainage. I work as a WSA Qualified Person who is accredited to apply for drainage licenses from WSA. I also provide Project Management and Asset Management support for Watershed Associations, Irrigation Districts, Conservation and Development Associations and landowners. I utilize GIS workflows in most of my projects, whether that's building databases, creating topography or hydrology maps, or using the field apps to do inspections. I taught the Qualified Person course at Southeast College. In my time here, I equipped over 200 Engineers, Technologists and Agrologists with the skills needed to complete Agricultural Drainage Approval Applications for the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency. This supports the Saskatchewan Agricultural Water Management Strategy. I equipped QP's with the knowledge needed to:- liase between landowners and WSA, - identify wetlands, - design drainage works, - mitigate risks and impacts, - manage projects- complete drainage applications.

As part of the Crops and Irrigation Branch, I provided engineering services to irrigation districts and to executive government. These services included asset management, contract administration, and database development. Collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation were keys to success in this role. One of my highlights included developing the Saskatchewan Irrigation Infrastructure Management System. It included developing an ArcGIS database to inspect, catalog and value 3500+ irrigation assets. The insights derived from the data supported a $30 Million transfer of funds to Irrigation Districts when they took ownership of the infrastructure. Other highlights included leading million-dollar projects designing and installing large-diameter irrigation pipe, acquiring drainage approvals for all the drainage ditches owned by irrigation districts and revising the irrigation act.I gained experience and expertise in:- Leadership- Board Governance- Geographic Information Systems- Asset Management- Project Management- Land Titles

Key Lake

I worked at the Key Lake mine as part of the dewatering team. Our job was to ensure that water from surrounding lakes would not enter the mine site and that only treated water left the mine site. Duties included:- Collecting Water Level data from lakes- Analyzing data- Replacing reverse osmosis membranes - Reading Piezometers

Working with the Ministry of Government Services in the Sustainability Branch we tried to provide the best value for taxpayers' money by looking at ways to efficiently manage Government-owned buildings. Projects included:- Studying the ROI of solar panels.- Vermicomposting initiatives- Acquiring BOMA Best Sustainable Building certification on 3 Government buildings.- Entering and Analyzing Utility Data for all Government-owned buildings.

My time as a Water Quality Trends Analysist involved analysis in Excel. Our job was to compile and conduct statistical analysis of water quality data for the rivers that flow from Alberta through Saskatchewan and into Manitoba. We employed Macros to get our work done faster and more accurately than previously thought possible. While the Prarie Provinces Water Board does administer an agreement amongst the provinces for water quality, the water quality targets are guidelines only.
