My current role at TomTom has allowed to me utilize my knowledge of software engineering practices in a collaborative environment. I support team members in planning, design, developing and maintaining code bases for some of TomTom's internal software. Along the way I have gained considerable practical experience using development tools including Maven, Git, Apache Tomcat, PostgreSQL, and JUnit.Some of the notable projects that I played an important role in include:• Street Name Normalizer - This initially started as a Java web service that read in a street name for an address and detects its components while also making substitutions (if necessary) to convert them into their proper country specific format. It was later integrated into a source validation tool that tried to match address points to surrounding roads; reducing fallout by 20 percent on average. Afterward, caching the street name metadata was implemented to optimize the performance.• Automated Source Prep - This tool was developed in Python to read in raw source data in xml and csv formats for various countries. Missing address information was merged from a Postgres database when needed. The outputs generated were later used as intake for downstream systems. Early on, it was noticeable that the tool's performance was taking a hit, so after doing some research and identifying alternatives, I implemented a solution that delivered a consistent increase of 7 times faster processing. The processing time of a 14-million-point source decreased from 6 days to only 18 hours!

I have gained excellent customer service skills through order taking and presenting orders. Customers tend to compliment me not only for being fast, accurate, and friendly, but for being great with suggestions and remaining calm when situations arise. I enjoy providing customers with the best, fresh quality products we can deliver for them, and seeing them return on a regular basis.Interpersonal skills/works well with the other crew members to provide a quality experience for our customers.

I Instructed 6 students per semester with programming concepts, improving application and knowledge base by 50%. I Obtained repeated requests from 4 students for tutoring, enhancing learning capabilities and academic achievement. I even motivated and supported 3 students in becoming successful tutors.
