Tierra Mia Ltd is a 520ha farming operation right on the southern coast of the South Island run by my wife and I. We run a combination of sheep and beef as well as dairy support for neighbouring properties.

In this role I was part of the PMO which was responsible for ensuring the strategic projects that Alliance Group was undertaking were delivered to scope, on time and on budget. My role had a strong emphasis on measuring benefit realisation on the executed projects and ensuring they were aligned with the original business case projections and strategic five year plan. The PMO had been started from scratch and it’s role was to implement project management processes and tools, with it ultimately designed to ensure the success of strategic projects and satisfy the reporting requirements of both executive leadership and the board. When required I would fill different roles within project teams; this would include data analysis, resource co-ordination and project planning.

In this role I was within a PMO where I was responsible for reporting on project costs performance on large scale government-led construction projects for the Christchurch rebuild. The role included administering change control, ensuring visibility of all committed contracts, improving forecast accuracy of project teams and driving a culture of best practice cost management.

In this role I worked with internal project teams to ensure the profitability and accurate revenue recognition across 120+ projects ranging in size and complexity. This included assisting with pricing bids, reviewing contracts, structured project planning, cost tracking, accurate forecasting and timely invoicing. This role involved interacting with the in-house project management software (Oracle interface), training new PMs to use the system and existing PMs how to use more of the functionality of the system. The financial success of the projects was largely dependant on educating key project managers to think more commercially about their projects.

Worked in both the Invercargill and Dunedin stores during my studies and breaks. Majority of time was spent in the business machines and furniture departments as a salesperson tasked with achieving daily KPIs. Experience in most other roles including checkouts, night-fill, copy centre and store room.
