I bridge the gap between biology and computation. Coming from a benchwork background, I was able to turn my thesis work into a half-and-half mix of computational modeling/statistics and cell and molecular biology. I bring not only that hands-on experience in both fields, but also the ability to communicate across this divide -- discussing the results of quantitative modeling with bench scientists and emphasizing biological significance with data scientists. This unique niche has been exciting to fill, bringing about fun collaborations and providing a unique perspective in pharmaceutical development.On top of my research, I've developed a Python programming class for high-school and undergraduate students, taught AI and machine learning concepts to our medical student cohorts, teach experimental design to first year graduate students, and founded a course teaching researchers how to bring together benchwork and computation in their own science through the use of next-gen sequencing and data analysis.Outside of lab, most people know me either from workshops or recruitment events or (much more often) as the guy who is somehow always out and about walking his dog.
