Aquaculture Technician 1

Aquatics Technician I
Specializes in the care of laboratory zebrafish. Performs daily zebrafish husbandry activities including water quality assessment, recirculating system maintenance, and tank washing. All actions are completed by strictly & consistently following applicable CCM SOPs including safety procedures & guidelines. Reports any suspected or actual deviations to SOPs or non-routine situations immediately to Group Leader or their designee. Arrives, leaves & takes breaks at work as scheduled. Assisted with wide range of day to day operations ranging from daily system maintenance and upkeep to daily care and monitoring of seven different species of economically valuable and at risk fishes ranging from larval to mature brood stock.
Biological Science Technician

Associate Biologist
Over the course of the period employed, I performed a multitude of tasks including the sampling of aquatic life, aquatic habitat development, water chemistry analysis and the tagging and harvest of fish produced in hatchery and rearing ponds. I also gained experience with large-scale seining and data collection as well as stocking various habitat sites with bluegill, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, hybrid striped bass, walleye, sauger, and saugeye.
Intern
While working as an intern, I gained experience with controlling invasive aquatic vegetation, operating electric seines, stream survey data collection, small-scale seining, stocking walleye, electro-fishing, fish collection, and lake surveys. The lake surveys included the setting and resetting of fyke nets, scale sample collection for DNA, as well as water chemistry and macro-invertebrate analysis. I also was involved in placing radio transmitters on blanding's turtles, which are an endangered species in Illinois.
