I have an extremely unique background coming from a high performance professional sports culture. Not only have I developed highly transferrable skills to the workplace from my time as a professional athlete, I've also worked a long list of jobs that have prepared me for a career in sales that I believe will enable me to excel in any situation. My work experience is long and extensive. A few jobs relevant to the positions I want as a salesman are as follows:Youth Soccer Ref- Referee2010-2016The first job I ever had and held till I left for college. I’ve always had a willingness to work hard, as I was working on the weekends as a 13 year old while others my age were at home doing nothing. Papa Noel Tree Company- Tree Salesman2014–2015I worked on a tree farm as a salesman on the floor. I developed a lot of interpersonal skills between salesman and consumer. Specifically the importance of quickly developing a relationship deeper than just a surface level salesman to consumer relationship.G5 Parking Solutions- Valet Parker03/15/2018–06/4/2019I worked at several parking sites around Atlanta. These included V-Live Atlanta, an extremely popular strip club in Atlanta, Red Pepper Atlanta, one of the busiest restaurants in Atlanta, and the Atlanta Braves baseball games. I learned the importance of sales turnover at this job. The money I made on a night was solely dependent on how many cars I could turnover in a night. Meaning I gained an understanding of urgency when capitalizing on opportunities. I generally worked the late shift from 9 PM to 4 AM. This meant I often worked with and around unruly people, often in dangerous situations, specifically at V-Live Atlanta. What I gained from that experience was an ability to handle high stress situations with a cool and resourceful head. I also developed an ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities that exist between the lines. An example of this would be that I implemented a system of using cones to identify “priority parking” enticing people to want to pay extra for those spots, ultimately making more money for the club, my coworkers, and myself. Through being a professional athlete for 3 years I developed my leadership skills. I learned how to effectively lead a team, develop game plans, and implement coach messaging to the wider group. As well as dealing with the ebbs and flows of a performance based career.
