Oversee all aspects of research within the El Camino Hospital health system. Provide strategic leadership in the area of research goal setting, study selection, management and quality monitoring. Direct and oversee a centralized, full-service Clinical Research Department comprised of legal, finance, regulatory, and study coordinator roles.

Provide executive leadership related to industry funded research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, including clinical and pre-clinical pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device-based research. Oversee the development, review and management of clinical, basic and translational research contracts and budgeting. Responsible for developing and improving the clinical research infrastructure, adoption and use of innovation, and education of clinical research staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Responsible for a wide range of consulting engagements covering compliance-related analysis, organizational re-engineering and administrative process improvements, efficiency studies, outsourcing solutions, technology implementations and policy/procedure assessment.

Provided leadership within a full service, Healthcare & Higher Education consulting practice. Served in a number of client-side management roles to lead Academic Medical Centers through change. Completed a comprehensive assessment of a major west coast hospital’s research administration operation; recommend/implement business process and structural improvements to address management of NIH, FDA and Conflict of Interest compliance risks. Assessments included work flow efficiency, organizational structure, information reporting, internal controls and information technology support. Implemented the structural consolidation of a major hospital’s administration of industry research. Performed process analysis and re-design related to contract negotiations, improving service to hospital and increasing funding from medical companies.

Provided leadership and direction to the overall operation of the Industry Contracts Division, including establishment of unit goals, design and implementation of contract negotiation policies, procedures and operational tools. Responsible for all aspects of personnel recruitment and management.
