Professionalism is very important to me as a freelance journalist as I always aim to bring a range of skills to a project. Many of my writing skills were developed from writing for online publications such as Tits Upon Tyne, NE Volume and I'm Not From London. I was also able to apply management skills to this field with the caretaking of my own online blog, WASTELAND MUSIC. Throughout a range of interviews and articles I was able to apply networking, communication and public speaking skills to my work.My previous freelance work at utilities company MeterCheck UK allowed me to develop video writing and production skills, which was something I had initially learned from my Media & Journalism undergraduate course at Northumbria University. As such, I was not only able to improve these skills but also find the experience to be deeply rewarding and enjoyable.My work as a freelancer also prioritises independant work, such was the case with the release of 'Making Noise' in April of 2021, a local music fanzine created by me and graphic designer Ben Cobb. The publication forced me to network and interview a range of artists and individuals involved in the local music scene. Each interview had to be networked, planned, transcribed and written to fit a certain format. The result was a thoroughly rewarding experience that allowed me to apply all the journalism skills I had learned.
