Intensive Deputy Attorney General Training Program

711 licensed intern with the State’s Attorney’s office in Kendall County, Illinois. Duties included:•Negotiating guilty pleas with pro se defendants in traffic court;•Representing the People of the State of Illinois in trials of petty traffic offenses, hearings on Petitions to Rescind Statutory Summary Suspensions, and other matters as assigned, under the supervision of a licensed attorney;•Performing legal research on pertinent issues facing the State’s Attorney’s office;•Conducting blind plea negotiations and sentencing hearings on traffic and misdemeanor cases in front of a presiding judge; and•Drafting and filing court documents, including petitions for indirect criminal contempt of court.

Law Clerk at a busy, boutique family law firm in Chicago, Illinois. I assisted attorneys and office staff with various tasks pertaining to their ongoing family law litigation.

Assisted the firm’s attorney and paralegal with essential tasks pertaining to all stages of managing real estate, bankruptcy, civil litigation, and probate matters in Illinois courts. I also handled intake for prospective clients and outreach to the firm’s leads for clients. I began as a seasonal employee and was hired on a more permanent basis. In this role, I assisted customers in selecting watches and leather products; process, and sold thousands of units of products.

In this summer internship, I assisted attorneys with various tasks involving prosecuting traffic, misdemeanor, and felony cases in addition to resolving various civil matters pertaining to county government. Duties included, but were not limited to: - Observing court proceedings and assisting with drafting court orders in criminal and traffic cases;- Providing support for all Assistant States Attorneys in researching various civil, juvenile, and criminal legal issues pertaining to ongoing cases; and -Ensuring smooth operation of juvenile court proceedings by assisting counsel with essential operational tasks.

Assisted rangers and other full time staff throughout western DuPage County, Illinois with tasks essential to providing visitors an experience that is second-to-none. In this role, I worked on upkeep of forest preserves and assisting clients with boat rentals at two sites.

Aided full time staff in the functioning of a State Representative’s district office. Duties included:- Compiling and entering data from hundreds of constituent surveys sent out shortly after the representative assumed office - Working with constituents to address concerns pertaining to the state government- Organizing and facilitating outreach events, such as Traveling Office Hours

I worked with prospective students to provide them with a snapshot of life at NIU by giving tours, answering phone calls, and being a representative of the university at large scale admissions functions.
