Software Engineering Manager
- Manage and mentor 2 teams of engineers of varying experience levels: perform monthly 1on1s, provide career advice, monitor performance and manage improvement plans, all while maintaining a positive and encouraging work environment- Guided teams from proprietary technology to web development with no prior experience in the technology: provided skill-appropriate tasks to aid in learning quickly, provided learning materials and established training plan, transition was highly successful- Serve as Technical Director for student product development and deployment: manage development plan, provide task requirements, manage daily standups, coordinate with product owner and customer-facing teams to balance product needs with engineering needs, established development practices such as peer reviews, coding standards, and testing policies, manage release pipeline and coordinate deployment for all environments- Directed application transition from native to browser technology, porting application to Web Assembly, coordinating timelines with customer-facing teams, and developing the rollout plan- Provided technical direction of development of next-generation data-driven content: provided creative and technical vision for the product design, managed development team, provided vision for release pipeline, and established effective contingencies to handle delayed external dependencies- Skilled in risk assessment: able to predict areas of potential risk ahead of time and provide a contingency plan to mitigate possible outcomes- Skilled in long-term planning and vision: able to create technical roadmap and development plan, able to recognize external dependencies and establish communication with external parties- Responsible for hiring additional manager to take over one of my teams: created interview agenda, led panel interviews, provided feedback to recruiters and VP supervisor- Member of Architecture Steering Committee
