I began working as a Barristers Clerk over 20 years ago in 2002 as a Junior Clerk at 187 Fleet Street.I spent nearly 6 and a half years as a junior clerk and diary clerk before embarking on my journey as a Fees Clerk at 1 Gray’s Inn Square in 2008. In the years that followed I also held the same positions at 2 Pump Court then 23ES. In 2015 I left behind my role at 23ES for a more finance management focused role at 15NBS Chambers which I held for just over 8 years until early 2023. After 15NBS, I was fortunate to be given a part-time finance manager role at Westgate Chambers in Brighton. This coincided with a point in time where I was ready for a change of pace. It was my initial intention to enjoy part-time work with some occasional freelance work from time to time having worked in pressured roles for a number of years. Part-time work was not something I found fulfilling initially so I went on a short hunt for some freelance work and found 2 clients in a short period of time. The freelance work took off amazingly well and in just over a month of starting my freelancing adventure my company Fee Clerk Collective was born and was working with multiple sets. 3 months in we began employing other staff to assist with the growing workload and the company was fast becoming something I wasn’t expecting to become for years. 5 months after opening Fee Clerk Collective, I decided to end my part-time employment and I am now a full-time company director working with numerous sets, various clerking teams and assisting hundreds of barristers.
