Managed a team of up to 16 software engineering and operations staff. Technical lead of the streaming media content ingestion and prep used by Akamai’s customers. Worked with product and executive teams to define, plan, and prioritize projects.* Co-architected and managed the engineering team for Akamai’s media transcoding and DRM platform which allowed for massive parallelization of transcoding and encryption across commodity servers for individual media jobs allowing for very high throughput and low cost. * Managed a geographically distributed team including an operations team in Bangalore, India.* Designed and managed the development of Akamai’s media management system. Using an offline analysis process, the targeting system was extended to infer the demographic attributes by comparing unknown visitor activity to known registered user data. All system designs incorporated business continuity planning (BCP) to handle the catastrophic failure of a data center as well as SOX compliance. * Advertiser Analytics – Provided web analytics solution so advertisers could track the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns. Deployed on over 30,000 customer websites.* Advertiser Data Collection/Reporting – Processed event data received from serving, analytics, and external systems into reports.
