Sr. Advanced Hardware Engineer
Parts Manager and Component Engineering technical Lead for Honeywell within the Aerospace / Space division. SME in EEE component selection and component architectures including PEMs (plastic encapsulated microcircuits), ASIC/FPGA architectures, space grade resistors, capacitors, semiconductors, magnetics, oscillators, diodes etc. Expertise in selection and survivability within harsh and critical environments. High familiarity in DLA MIL-STD/PRFs relative to space grade components and DPA (destructive physical analysis). Specialties and technical white paper publications:>M55342 Nickel Chromium Passivated Discrete Resistive Devices – Reliability for Military and Space Grade Applications>Pure Tin Mitigation within Military and Space Grade Environments - Tin whisker Mitigation and Dendrite Formation.
Advanced Semiconductor Engineer (Asic/Fpga)
Led the revision of a legacy program in which a new FPGA platform was chosen to replace an outdated CPLD platform for the US Army. Worked directly with our Chief Engineer in which we translated machine generated RTL code to properly functioning and Honeywell Space approved VHDL code. Made RTL changes and stitched in new modules to update architectures. Performed all documentation and architecture review cycles to derive both FPGA level and system level requirements for program. Worked as a Control Accounts Manager (CAM) for a major Space program guiding team to ensure IMS (Integrated Master Schedule) was properly followed for the ASIC and FPGA designs. Led effort working directly with internal program office to bring in our ASIC PDR date ensuring that Honeywell Aerospace did not lose the contract. RTL design and simulation in System Verilog and VHDL.Designing FPGA/ASIC architectures for ruggedized and critical environments for Space and Defense programs. All applications of design and simulation/testbench done within Linux environments.VS Code, Emacs, Xilinx Vivado, Questa, ISE, Quartus, GitLab, SVN
Advanced Hardware Engineer
Component Engineering Lead and Parts Manager. Customer facing technical lead advising on EEE component selection, survivability, and new program development maturation process. Authored technical white papers, latest publications: M55342 Nickel Chromium Passivated Discrete Resistive Devices – Reliability for Military and Space Grade ApplicationsPure Tin Mitigation within Military and Space Grade Environments - Tin whisker Mitigation and Dendrite Formation.
Hardware Engineer
Digital design of flight simulators for Military, NASA and other Aerospace industry facets. Primary designs on B1 Lancer.
R&D Hardware Design Engineer
Digital hardware design, testing/debugging and sustainment of multi-gigabit systems including 1G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 50G, 100G, and 400G speeds.Design experience with communication protocols I2C, SPI, UART, USB, PCIe, 10GBaseKR, Gigabit Ethernet and others along with coding schemes NRZ, PAM4, 8B/10B, 64B/66B, SERDES etc.Designed and sustained devices for network applications including performance and security testing products and visibility solutions products. (Intelligent bypass switches, copper/fiber taps and emulators etc.)Completed multiple designs using OrCAD and Allegro including a re-design of a 16 (8 network and 8 monitor) port hot-swappable 10GbE fiber-optic/copper module in which mounts through a midplane connection into a larger 1U intelligent bypass switch.Performed signal integrity mitigation solving issues like cross talk, reflections, rail collapse, metastability, rise and hold timing issues and others on high speed signals up to 400G.Responsible for designing and performing test procedures for high-pressure “hot-site” issues for in market products (HALT and thermal testing on network hardware).
