Heber Valley

Heber Valley Tourism and Economic Development oversees business development and marketing for Wasatch County and its cities and towns. The role of the office is to enhance the local economy by recruiting businesses to the area, facilitating an environment for existing businesses to expand, and driving tourism-related business to the area. The office also oversees and directs the Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce.Wasatch County is Utah's fastest growing county while Heber City consistently ranks among the country's top-three fastest growing cities.

Utah Valley University - Wasatch Campus

The Wasatch Center for Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) is a partnership between the business community, industry mentors, and high school students. CAPS students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by working in collaborative groups to complete real-world business projects while being mentored by industry partners.In this role, I helped launch the program, including the design of a state-of-the-art, 8,100 square-foot entrepreneurship facility where students work on real-world business projects. I oversaw 5 faculty members, 100 students, 15 mentors, and 30 projects per semester.

The Governor's Office of Planning and Budget is responsible for establishing best management practices for the State of Utah through budgeting, planning, policy development, and strategic planning. As an analyst, I served as policy and budget liaison to the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the Utah Film Commission, the Office of Tourism, the Utah Tax Commission, the Department of Community and Culture, and USTAR.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. Its mission is to improve the performance and ensure the accountability of the federal government by advising Congress and the heads of executive agencies on how to make government more efficient, effective, ethical, equitable, and responsive.My project involved working with Department of Defense leadership and other Pentagon personnel to determine the degree in which the DOD properly managed its acquisition programs for major military weapon systems. Greater Salt Lake City Area

The objective of the Governor's Office of Economic Development is to provide rich business resources for the creation, growth and recruitment of companies to Utah and to increase tourism and film production in the state. Its business development programs have helped Utah garner numerous accolades, including being ranked as the "Most Dynamic Economy" and the "Best Managed State."In this role, I worked with the business development team to facilitate the growth of targeted economic clusters. I also coordinated the marketing and public relations efforts by writing and creating press releases, news stories, and marketing materials. Other responsibilities included managing the balanced scorecard metrics, planning the Governor's Economic Summit, writing grants, and working with the Utah Office of Tourism and the Utah Film Commission on a variety of projects.

Ogden, Utah

The Ogden City Council creates a framework under which municipal ordinances are created to serve the community while also setting the city's annual budget and financial guidelines.As an intern, I helped build and facilitate a 16-member youth council, coordinated city appointments from the Mayor's office, and reviewed policy and code additions and amendments. I also researched various council initiatives, including an in-depth review of public transportation systems.
