Designed, implemented, and maintained a wide variety of new development projects individually or in small teams. Highlights include a dashboard widget system, digital sympathy store featuring direct-to-florist purchasing, various third-party APIs and integrations, and the ObitTree open obituary database website. Performed server, database, and code optimizations and security fixes to support a growing user-base of 1500 client firms, with millions of daily end-user traffic hits and database requests. Kept up-to-date on mobile and web design and technology trends, including search engine optimization, responsive design, and the latest development and design frameworks. Supported and trained frontline staff as needed in a rapid-paced, customer-first environment.

Worked in a microbial genetics lab to write and maintain new and existing genetic sequence processing programs, resource web sites, and various other research tools. Worked with McMaster's Director of Engineering 1, and the Chair of Computing and Software, to improve the quality of Engineering 1D04 (Engineering Computation in Python). Designed, developed, and implemented an online web application for automatic grading and evaluation of student Python code assignments. Students submit their work to the website and receive immediate feedback on their programs, resulting in overall increased student performance while simultaneously reducing staff marking workload by approximately $6000 annually.Worked independently and with teaching staff to create and improve course content and curriculum, and develop new teaching tools. Occasionally assisted with training new teaching staff when required.
