I am a life long livestock farmer that has always had a wide range of interests. Managing my own business has been valuable in teaching me business and managerial skills. In 2023 I decided to take on a new challenge and move into the corporate environment where I have gained experience as a junior sustainability consultant, doing work for mines in South Africa and more broadly in Africa. Exposure to the mining industry has given me insight into the issues that mines face with regards to their environmental, social and governance issues and how mines can curtail their exposure to risks associated with these issues and thereby attract investment from environmentally and socially conscious investors. I have gained skills in report writing and data management through the course of my time there.I am the chairman and director on a local non-profit private school board where I am constantly sharpening my management skills. I have also completed a life coaching course that has given me soft skills that I have found valuable in relating to coworkers.In my private time I am a amateur leather worker and am just putting the final touches on my second novel.
