I have a passion for our natural world and believe that a multi-stakeholder approach, that includes business, plays a critical role to ensure a sustainable future by using innovation to improve efficiencies and reduce waste. I also love working with data, which is an invaluable resource for identifying and addressing sustainability-related risks and opportunities. I have nearly 10 years of experience working in retail and wholesale environmental sustainability, and have been involved in managing both internal operational and supply chain engagement projects. Most recently I have designed, driven and implemented both in-market emissions-reduction and contributed to global net-zero strategies, as well as worked closely with a global network of professionals in a multi-market approach to achieving sustainability goals based on a regenerative model.Some projects I've either lead or supported include:- Greenhouse gas calculations and reporting (scopes 1, 2 and 3)- Implementing in-market, global net zero-emission and regenerative sustainability strategies- Reporting to key stakeholders, including CDP, FTSE Russell and GRI- Integrating sustainability into company policy- Supply chain and environmental advocacy, especially seafood, timber and palm oil sourcing- Product assurance and verification (e.g. through DNA sequencing)- Resource-use efficiency, including cost- and waste-reduction of water and energy- Renewable energy and backup energy solutions- Environmental risk management- Animal welfare (particularly poultry and egg production)I have a Master of Science degree in Environmental Sciences, Zoology and Botany from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. I’ve also completed two NQF8 certificate courses through the Mandela Institute covering sustainability and law in South Africa. I also have an engineering-level certificate in energy efficiency and sustainability through the University of Cape Town.Future interests: I'm fascinated by the role that insects could play in our future. They have the potential to address significant waste while simultaneously being a high-quality protein source for animals and humans, which could take pressure off our oceans, amongst other benefits. They are key to tackling human impacts. I'm also interested in rewilding and true regenerative projects that aim to be net-beneficial to biodiversity, climate-change management and preservation of our global natural heritage.I am an Irish and South African national, but currently reside in Coventry, United Kingdom.
