As the Benefits Specialist, I am responsible for administering all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long term disability, long term care, and 403(b) retirement plans. I conduct weekly benefit orientations with new employees, ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments, terminations, and qualifying events in our HRIS system, and perform quality checks and audits of benefit-related data. I respond to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefit enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. I respond to 403(b) retirement inquiries from employees related to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. I manage all communication and processing of employee leave of absence. I help coordinate and support the open enrollment process and annual benefits fair. I build and maintain relationships with health and retirement plan providers, review vendor invoices, resolve disputes, and report on fees and costs. I administer our tuition remission program and manage retiree receptions and disbursement of retiree gifts. I also serve as the main point of contact to injured employees, submit workers’ compensation claims, and intake medical accommodation requests. I help create content and participate in presenting benefits and wellness training modules for the new employee training and development program. I manage the University Wellness Program, including planning events, challenges and workshops for approximately 300 active participants.

As the Benefits Coordinator, I provided administrative support for all university benefit programs, performed ergonomic evaluations, order equipment in accordance with PLNU ADA Policy, and coordinated employee events such as the annual staff luncheon, retirement receptions and the open enrollment benefits fair. In addition to benefits administration, I coordinated the PLNU Employee Wellness Program with the Director of Benefits and Wellness. I am responsible for wellness branding, challenge tracking, and assist in designing all programs and events. In my time, I created and launched a brand new wellness website that houses all of PLNU's program resources, information, and event details.

I served as administrative support to the AVP for Human Resources and the Human Resources office. I evaluated vendors and orientation materials to help streamline the new hire and on-boarding process and I was in charge of planning and directing employee events and all events related to HR. It was also my responsibility to manage the University switchboard program through hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student employees. In my time, I had an integral role in creating and managing a brand new event called the Quarterly Onboarding Program, with the purpose of expanding our new hire onboarding experience by inviting all new hires to a quarterly event designed to encourage new connections, impart a greater sense of “Who We Are” through our shared mission, connect with Leadership and highlight opportunities to experience community.
