About Saatvik Kumar
I am an aerospace engineering student at the Georgia Institute of Technology who has an interest in studying nuclear thermal propulsion and other advanced deep space propulsion systems.I have experience with thermodynamics, vehicle fluids, and component design which I gained from the Yellow Jacket Space Program (YJSP), a liquid rocketry team dedicated to sending the first collegiate liquid rocket to space. As a part of the team I have developed the pneumatics system for our upcoming Vespula rocket as well as assisting in the development of several valves, vents, plumbing, and other critical vehicle fluids components. Furthermore, as a part of the Yellow Jacket Space Program I have helped to construct a spray rig to characterize engine injector flows as well as performing preliminary research in the design of an ablative engine.I've also honed other elements of my engineering skills by being a part of a Research Project at Georgia Tech dedicated to 3D printing on the nanoscale using methods that are far more cost efficient than are currently available by reutilizing easily obtainable optical pickup units in order to perform photon lithography on nanoscale. Additionally, I've developed skills in systems engineering as a part of a NASA summer program known as High School Aerospace Scholars where I designed the propulsion system of a model lunar lander while communicating with several other teams in order to successfully complete a mock moon mission. I am passionate about propelling humanity's reach into space and excited to expand our reach as a civilization to the stars.
