Hi, my name is Sagnik Mukherjee and I am currently an undergraduate senior at Rutgers University majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Experience is something that matters the most. My experience in this field comes from both hands-on as well as theoretical experiences. As a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, I have been part of two subgroups. First, I was a member of RUAutonomous, where I helped design prototypes of a payload-dropping mechanism for an autonomous plane using Solidworks. I am currently a member of the Rutgers Rocket Propulsion Lab. As a part of our senior design project, we will be using experimental data to improve the longitudinal stability of the rocket during a supersonic speed regime using ANSYS. My theoretical experience comes from conducting research under my professor regarding the ring particles of Saturn and the dynamical phenomena associated with them. I helped build an observer using MATLAB/Simulink in a closed-loop environment. With the help of these experiences, I am currently building a remote-controlled plane completely from scratch. The term “rocket science” which is synonymous with my field has always sounded intimidating, doesn't it? To me, rocket science is something that has always motivated me to uncover the mysteries of the universe.
