Project Engineer
CurrentAs a Project Geological Engineer working for a site investigation company based in the South East of England, Sam is mainly involved in the planning, management and supervision of small scale site investigation projects. This involves the undertaking of Phase 1 Desk Studies, including site walkovers and the planning and supervision of Phase 2 intrusive investigations (for example trial pitting with excavators or by hand to expose foundations, hand held window sampling, windowless sampling with small track rigs and working with/supervising rotary and cable percussion drilling crews) and the writing of factual and interpretive reports base on the findings of both the Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations.This work also includes logging soils to British Standards (BS:5930), knowledge of Eurocode 7 (EN:1997) the understanding and application of both in-situ and laboratory testing relating to geotechnical design parameters (including the design of conventional and piled foundations, earthworks design, highway/road construction and soakaway drainage) and geo-environmental contamination issues.
