I am currently working at Geotechnical engineering I’ve been here for 5 years now, I work all over the country drilling boreholes to take samples to ensure its stable enough, I’m currently an assistant driller which supports the lead driller with the jobs we have to do, e.g maintaining the working order of all the sample barrels, making sure everything is labeled up correctly, making sure all tools are in safe working order and maintaining good house keeping through out site.I have also… Show more I am currently working at Geotechnical engineering I’ve been here for 5 years now, I work all over the country drilling boreholes to take samples to ensure its stable enough, I’m currently an assistant driller which supports the lead driller with the jobs we have to do, e.g maintaining the working order of all the sample barrels, making sure everything is labeled up correctly, making sure all tools are in safe working order and maintaining good house keeping through out site.I have also been signed off as a lead driller, a lead driller ensures that the job is completed well and in a safe manor and is set certain depths and must reach them, with constant problem solving, are also in charge of a small team. I have also been lucky enough to learn a few things about the wire line technique including the inner and outer barrels.Whilst working here I have managed to achieve my NVQ qualification in land drilling, I’ve also gained my cable avoidance ticket (CAT) and my towing license as mentioned above.I have now been lucky enough to move departments from drilling to support/mechanics, which includes the servicing and upkeep of all our rigs, mono pumps etc, I’ve been taught many different things on how to maintain our rigs such as welding, ark welding, wiring looms, different types of water pumps, circuit boards etc. Show less
