Samantha Stepney is a partner in BLG's Labour and Employment Group in the Vancouver office. Samantha’s practice involves all aspects of labour and employment law, including human rights and employment standards matters. She assists clients with drafting and reviewing employment/contractor agreements, employee handbooks and policies, and severance agreements, and advises employers with respect to all workplace related legal issues including performance management, terminations, and wrongful/constructive dismissal. She has appeared as counsel/co-counsel at all levels of court in British Columbia and various administrative tribunals, including BC Provincial Court, BC Supreme Court, Employment Standards Branch, and Human Rights Tribunal.Prior to joining us, Samantha practiced in the areas of general litigation and family law at a large full-service international law firm, where she gained significant drafting, litigation and negotiation experience, including in high conflict contexts. She later moved to a boutique firm where she transitioned into the specialized area of employment law, and worked closely with both employees and employers with respect to all employment related legal issues.
