• I managed day to day operations for the Orthopaedic Residency Program and adhered to the ACGME policies. Some of these duties included but were not limited to contract management and renewals, application review, onboarding for new incoming residents, data reporting, assisting the Program Director with disciplinary action, letter drafting, writing and editing department policies, arranging travel for residents and managing duty hours and schedules. I planned and coordinated meetings within my own department as well as in collaboration with other departments and took minutes during these meetings. I also planned and coordinated events such as guest lecturers, resident wellness events and graduations. I am proficient in Microsoft applications, Zoom, and Adobe. • I additionally had the role of Clerkship Coordinator for the Orthopaedic Surgery Department within the LSU Health Shreveport Medical School. This position’s duties included but were not limited to drafting and revising course syllabi, mentoring medical students interested in orthopaedic surgery residency, managing the medical students on the orthopaedic surgery rotations, grade recording, and coordinating scheduled lectures with the Clerkship Director.

• I assisted the Director of Research with various tasks. Some of these included manuscript preparations, grant applications, editing, proofing, and submitting articles to scientific journals. I was the main point of contact for the medical students to get involved in research. I scheduled research meetings for the Director and students, monitored the students’ progress on their projects. I submitted protocols for various projects to the Institutional Review Board and kept up to date on current regulations and guidelines for various types of studies.

• I assisted the physical therapists and physical therapy assistants with ambulating the patients. This included walking them out in the hall, assisting them to the bathroom, transferring the patient from the bed to the chair or commode. I also helped the therapists by managing lines and monitoring the patients O2 SATS, heart rate, blood pressure. I communicated with the nurses and reported back to the therapists regarding a patient and their treatment. If there was anything the therapist or patient needed during the treatment, I was responsible for getting it for them.

• At Pain Consultants of West Florida, I started out as a front desk receptionist but was quickly promoted to the authorization department. I verified insurance for physical therapy as well as DME’s, MRI’s and CT scans. I either used the insurance websites or called the company and used the information I have been given about the patient to verify benefits and get pre-authorization. In this position you must get these things done in a timely manner to better help the patient get what they need. I handled any denials that I got and worked with the provider to see what the next steps were for the patient. I also called patients to schedule them for physical therapy as well as fax orders to the appropriate facilities that the patient wishes to go to. If the authorization is pending, I kept checking on it and possibly adding clinical documents to help get the authorization for the patient.

• As the lead physical therapy technician, I had all the same duties as a physical therapy technician with added responsibilities. These included: assist in hiring new technicians, training new technicians, assigning who was working with each therapist and who was floating between the two. While in this position there was no training program in place for a regular technician because I was already trained in that position, so I created a training program for Granite Orthopedics to use for their future technicians. This training included checklists to fill out throughout the day, how to cue and demonstrate exercises, modifications and progressions for exercises, warning signs on when to stop exercises and how to help the therapist with anything they needed throughout the day.

• As the Fitness Coordinator I was the in-house personal trainer and trained clients in both individual sessions and group sessions. I was in charge of my own marketing and used various social media platforms to promote the program. I signed clients up using a program and scheduled them out in advance for sessions whether they are training sessions or fitness classes. I had the same responsibilities as a personal trainer. I was also able to consult with the Physical Therapists to discuss injury prevention and care.

• My duties include greeting patients, taking them through their exercises prescribed by the physical therapist, ensuring proper form, and transferring the patients to their physical therapist after their exercises are done. My duties also include ensuring the environment is safe and clean for the patients, changing the linens, and assisting the physical therapists in any way that they needed.
