Systems are generally built in SAS with Teradata SQL pass-through, though moving toward cloud processing.Onboard junior SAS programmers to development team. Provide interactive trainings to learn the codebase and supervise development efforts of new staff. Write python scripts to automate processes such as populating Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word documents with data, performing literature searches, and web scraping. Periodically give presentations to internal python user group on topics of interest such as logging and pythonic code development. Develop and maintain Clinical Quality Language (CQL) specifications for electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs). Perform unit testing of eCQM specifications.Perform quality assurance of code (predominantly SAS and python) through code reviews, independent desk checks, and parallel programming.

Course: CSC 172, The Science of Data Structures. Lead weekly two-hour workshop with ten students. Facilitate discussion of course material as students work through problem set as a group. Course topics include data structures (stacks, queues, trees, hash tables, etc.), algorithms (mainly sorting and graphs), and complexity theory.

Worked on an intern team to create an Internet news website. Conducted A/B testing and analysis to optimize site traffic flow and user acquisition/retention. Performed process refactoring several times as site grew to streamline testing strategies and deployment of marketing materials. Achieved the lowest cost-per-click in company history and captured hundreds more records than previous intern teams.

Analyzed qualitative data from the Physician Workflow Survey, a supplement to the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS). Examined the qualitative data for broad themes for description purposes and conducted mixed-methods analysis using quantitative data from the same survey.Researched a new method for collecting hospital payer data. Conducted inter-rater reliability testing using SAS and compared accuracy of old versus new methods.

Collaborated on several projects including the following:1) Researched the topic of generations in the workplace for Human Resources department. 2) Completed comprehensive literature search and summary with recommendations for maximizing effectiveness of multigenerational medical teams, including communication strategies and appropriate use of technology. 3) Created course materials for employee workshop on managing aggressive persons. 4) Wrote one-page marketing description of course distributed to RGH employees. 5) Edited other course materials to improve clarity and consistency. 6) Edited manual for Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program (CUSP) informing employees how to initiate a CUSP project, organize monthly team safety meetings, and achieve tangible results.

Participated in two research projects: 1) Created and presented a poster about infants’ perception of physical properties of objects and 2) Contributed to the creation of a code for evaluating mother-infant relationships in adoptive and biological families.
