I began my career at BTG in October 2009 as a Trainee Insolvency Administrator. My responsibilities at that point were the day to day administration of corporate insolvencies, in the main Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations and Administrations, which included: preparing the statutory documents for the appointment of administrators and liquidators; reporting to creditors – secured, preferential and unsecured, attending to employee matters and queries; dealing with creditor matters such as retention of title and agreeing claims; corresponding with solicitors, agents, and interested parties in respect of asset realisations; liaising with debtors; and the progression and closure of cases.Since starting as a Trainee I have had the following promotions: Insolvency Administrator in July 2011, Senior Administrator in July 2013 and latterly Assistant Manager in January 2014.From 2010 to 2012, I undertook the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Following becoming a Chartered Accountant, my work has been primarily for the Financial Consulting division, focussing on restructuring and turnaround. My role within BTG Financial Consulting involves: independent business reviews; pre-lending due diligence reports; short term cash flow reviews; accelerated mergers and acquisitions; and debt restructuring.

In 2014 I undertook a seven month secondment in Strategic Business Services at Yorkshire Bank, based in the Retentions team. The role of SBS within the bank is to manage companies in financial difficulty, creating turnaround strategies in order to enable a return to "good bank". My role in SBS was to provide assistance to the team, carrying out work such as:Assessing cases referred to SBS and making a decision as to whether they required the assistance of SBS, or whether they should remain active;Financial review of management information and statutory accounts;Attending customer meetings; andWriting strategy papers for new and existing connections within SBS.

In 2013 I undertook a nine and a half month secondment at Santander UK Corporate & Commercial. During my secondment I spent time within the following areas of the Bank:Credit and Risk;Relationship Management;Business Development; andRestructuring.I began my secondment at Santander in the Credit team, reviewing credit applications of a varying nature, including: new lends to new customers; annual reviews and renewals of existing customers; and new lends / restructure of existing lends to existing customers. I also took part in the monthly credit and risk portfolio reviews between Credit and front office Relationship Directors, which involved discussions of any customers where there may be cause for concern.My exposure to Relationship Management involved effectively shadowing a Relationship Director, attending customer meetings, reviewing and analysing financial information provided by the customer, and writing credit applications - all of which for both existing customers and prospects.Following on from the above, I then spent time in Business Development. This involved shadowing a Business Development Director; attending meetings with brokers and prospects in order to generate new business for the Bank; and developing ideas for prospecting - this included collecting information on companies within the Yorkshire region, collating a list of Top Yorkshire SMEs which we believed the Bank should be targeting, and designing a mailing campaign for these such companies.
