The role includes· Establishment of a lymphoma service at Middlemore Hospital, this includes consultative clinics; to provide a specialist opinion including diagnosis and management plan, and ongoing assessment and management of the more difficult clinical problems.· Establishment of a lymphoma database· Ward Rounds and Consultations and Referrals· Laboratory Clinical Activities: the primary responsibility is to supervise blood and bone marrow testing within the Laboratory.

In collaboration with the Centre for Clinical Research and Effective Practice (CCRep), and in association with the Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB), we have established a tissue bank at Middlemore Hospital for the collection of human tumour-related research biospecimens for research. Our vision is to establish a comprehensive regional, if not NZ-wide, collection of biospecimens.

The focus of the lab is on molecular pathogenesis of brain tumours with a particular focus on CNS lymphomas. The goals are to:· Improve the means by which we diagnose brain tumours using proteomic analysis of the CSF· Use genomic techniques to improve our ability to assess prognostic subgroups within CNS lymphomas· Use the information to establish more rational and effective means to treat and prevent CNS lymphomas

The joint Haematology training program in Australia and New Zealand is designed to prepare clinicians to be competent in both clinical and laboratory Haematology. Haematological malignancies constituted a large bulk of my clinical work, and my special interest is in Lymphoproliferative disorders.
