Requiring exceptional organisation and communication skills, this demanding role encompassed a wide variety of duties, to raise awareness of IWM North and its challenging subject matter, to drive visitors to the museum's exhibitions and events, whilst also encouraging secondary spend in the café and shop. This was carried out by planning, implementing and managing, targeted and imaginative marketing and PR campaigns; supporting brand management; developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with key figures and organisations; budget management; campaign evaluation including market research; developing and maintaining email and press lists; managing print design, production and distribution; creating enewsletters; updating the website and other key websites; social media; being a point of contact for press, public and internal enquiries; supervising photographers and film crews; arranging interviews with staff and speakers; maintaining the image library ensuring high quality images are available for press and publicity use.

Duties included managing direct mail, leaflet distribution, maintaining mailing lists, creating enewsletters, managing web content, planning, implementing and managing press campaigns, evaluating press coverage and writing press listings.

My main duties included welcoming visitors, selling guidebooks, dealing with enquiries, merchandising, stock replenishment, serving customers and assisting with financial controls.

I was responsible for management of the department, encompassing sales generation, reporting, stock replenishment, merchandising, staff management and training.
