Charlie Traveler Presents(CTP) is a full service boutique booking, promotions and consulting agency in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. CTP can help produce your event, whether it's 50 people or 500. Sam Katz, CTP owner and everything in between, was a partner and crucial member of the small team that opened up downtown landmark venue Asheville Music Hall, as well as The One Stop, in 2011. In 2015, Katz purchased The Altamont Theatre and turned it into the finest listening room in Asheville before its demise in 2018(for short term condos!). In February of 2018 Katz helped launch the gorgeous new listening room in West Asheville, Ambrose West, and booked the majority of their entertainment for their first year of business. Charlie Traveler Presents was formed in mid 2013, after Sam disbanded Geniass Productions, around the time of the sale of AMH and The One Stop. CTP is a boutique consulting company specializing in live music and event venue booking, promotions and marketing. Charlie Traveler Presents promotes shows at a variety of venues in Asheville, including Ambrose West (a 160 cap seated listening room in West Asheville), Isis Music Hall (a beautiful 450 cap room in West Asheville that hosts a variety of National acts), The Mothlight (cool 250 cap room in West Asheville) and Asheville Music Hall (THE downtown club to play) to name a few.CTP is a well versed social media strategist, having assisted numerous Asheville venues and businesses from Asheville Music Hall to Mamacitas. CTP also maintains a strong street level and grass roots marketing and promotional team. We have strong ties to local media and produce and distribute press releases and campaigns. ​Having produced over 1,000 live music events in the Asheville area, CTP is a sought after event producer and partner who works hard to make every single show special.

Ambrose West is a Listening Room and event space in West Asheville, NC. In late 2017 the owners contacted me after they heard about the closing of my venue, The Altamont Theatre, on the local news. I came on as a consultant and helped them create their business model, all their systems, created and distributed a press campaign(resulting in a cover story) and booked all the music and entertainment for most of their opening year in 2018.

The Altamont Theatre is the most intimate and best sounding concert space in Asheville. Voted WNC's "Best Listening Room" 5 out of the last 6 years, the venue was forced to shut its doors in December 2017, to make way for short term condos for tourists. Throughout the years The Altamont has played host to many Grammy Winners and National touring acts such as Mark O’Connor, Jim Lauderdale, Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet, Mike Farris, Peter Asher, John Paul White, Shawn Camp, John Berry, Jon Vezner, Sturgil Simpson, Dean Ween Group, Milk Carton Kids, Leon Redbone, John Cowan, Darrell Scott, Ozric Tentacles, Mary Gauthier and many more!

Asheville Music Hall is a 360 capacity destination music hall in downtown Asheville. We book mostly National Acts w/an occasional Regional or Local headliner show mixed in as well. The One Stop Deli & Bar, just below Asheville Music Hall, is a 200 capacity room and also features a full service hot/cold Southern style Deli and full bar.

HeadCount is a non profit, non partisan organization dedicated to registering voters and engaging/organizing the live music scene to get active w/government and politics on all levels. We work primarily at large scale music events and concerts. I have done a lot of work in the field, and currently handle a number of artists as an Artist Relations rep, acting as the liason between them and HeadCount and advancing all shows.

Geniass Productions is an artist management company that focuses on long term career development and artist empowerment. We are also a full service booking/publicity agency w/regional street teams in the Southeast. We like to get on the road sometimes too and maintain a small base of Tour Management clients.We are capable of "Greening" your event and can power a full concert stage/PA with the help of our good friends over at Tree Power & Sound in Atlanta, GA and their mobile solar trailer/wind tower. In general, we offer consulting services for artists, promoters, and any one seeking advice for business planning. We can tailor any job to your specifications, nothing too big or too small!

As Tour Manager I handled every aspect of managing the band and their tours on the road. Responsible for eight people typically, including band and soundguy, though the band swelled to 12 at times. Advanced all shows with venues, sound and production managers, other artists and their management, guestlist, etc. Responsible for all hospitality of band, including lodging, drinks, food, etc. Responsible for all compensation, settled up after every show. Responsible for all merchandise, inventory, as well as selling it at the shows. Responsible for filling out a Gig Report after every show and getting it to management. Worked very closely w/band manager and booking agent, with daily contact.Basically an all around utility guy.

Pretty Polly Productions is a full service college Middle Agency and Production company capable of producing events from 50 people to 50,000 people. We act as a middleman between the artists and the college that wants to bring them in as entertainment. PPP also handles large scale events for the city of Boston, MA. Artists we've worked with include: Kanye West, Ludacris, Bob Dylan, John Mayer, The Decemberists, Lupe Fiasco, and many, many more.

Managed the box office of the South Shore Music Circus for the 2003 season, a 2300 seat outdoor seasonal music venue in the Greater Boston area. Was responsible for all finance and show reports regarding tickets/ticket sales. Also handled the Inner Circle Club, a preferred customer membership club w/upwards of one thousand members. We printed and distributed all tickets in house, physically printing them out/sorting them, stuffing them in envelopes and mailing. I also handled all customer service for members of the Inner Circle Club.

Gamelan Productions was a booking/production/publicity company that operated from the early 90's through 2003 or so. We did shows all over Boston at every marquis venue, from clubs to the Orpheum Theater, and all over New England as well. Gamelan Productions is responsible for the Berkshire Mountain Music Festival in Massachusetts, the sister festival of High Sierra, that was known for its diverse and cutting edge line-ups and gained national recognition immediately.I did a lot of street level grassroots promotions and really cut my teeth working for Gamelan in this capacity. Eventually, I began to do some production work and learned a lot of the basics here as well. RIP Gamelan.

Interned in the Video Promotion and Media Development department at Atlantic Records in New York City. Helped with street team stuff, promoting artists at various events in NYC, including Total Request Live. Worked on VH1's Storytellers set for the Stone Temple Pilots reunion show. Handled daily communications with various Video shows in promotion of Atlantic artists. I also did some really cool shit and some intern shit.
