In the fall of 2022, I volunteered with LSU's SOLAMS Research Project led by Dr. Patricia Persuad. Teams were made up of young researchers from Louisiana State University, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Southern University and A&M College, and Baylor University. Volunteers installed ~380 seismographic nodes in multiple locations in Mamou, LA and Baton Rouge, LA. Upon retrieval, soils samples were collected from each location. I am currently analyzing these samples using XRF technology, for heavy metal concentrations and determine contamination if any are present.
