As assistant executive housekeeper, I am a part of the hotel's operational leadership. I oversee a department of about 30 room attendants, house attendants, and public area attendants, all focused on maintaining the high cleanliness standards of the hotel. I coordinate room cleaning assignments in order to cover the hotel's daily needs while also putting the attendants in positions where they can best complete their tasks and feel supported. I frequently coordinate with other hotel leaders to facilitate housekeeping services to coincide with front office, event services, and other departments' needs. Between these, I spend much of my days working alongside our team members, checking in with them, bringing them things they need, and even (slowly) learning how to make beds as flawlessly as they can.

In this amazing program, I'm immersed in every function of a large-scale, major market hotel. I have trained in-depth with the managers in housekeeping, food and beverage, front desk, events and banquets, and further spent time shadowing managers in human resources, finance, engineering, and sales to gain an incredibly well-rounded understanding and knowledge of this hotel and of the hospitality industry as a whole.

For my final semester at WSU, I worked as a "Cougar Connector", assisting the WSU Office of Recruitment with prospective student recruitment, the admissions process, and outreach.I greeted and welcomed prospective students and families, showed them around campus, assisted them in the college decision making process, and got to be one of the first of many friendly faces they meet at WSU, showing genuine interest in their individual interests and needs.

In this role, I supervised both intramural sports and WSU club sports. I maintained up-to-date rosters for the teams, checked participant attendance before competitions, and served as the first responder to an injury or other emergency, among other duties. This position required strong customer service and communication skills as I had to effectively communicate sport rules and university policies to participants. I also communicated with other employees about scheduling, player eligibility checks, and incident reports. I served as a guide to new intramural officials as well, providing them guidance and assistance with their role as an official.

In this role, I officiated multiple WSU intramural sports, including basketball, flag football, softball and volleyball. I enforced sports rules, university recreation policies, and WSU policies before, during and after intramural events. I had to communicate well with my fellow officials during and between plays and receive and learn from feedback from my supervisor after events.

I brought forward to University Recreation the idea of creating a social media presence for the intramural programs. Almost entirely on my own, I filmed and edited highlights of the different intramural sport events at WSU (basketball, soccer, flag football etc.), celebrating our participants' best plays, creating excitement around the current IM season and promoting the program for the next season.

As a creative video intern, I have helped plan, film and edit videos and graphics to help create and promote the WSU football brand. I've filmed morning practices (generally 3-4 days a week), been on the sideline filming all home games, labeled and organized video clips and pictures into shared folders that the creative team members all have access to, and edited both projects that the directors ask me to create and projects I create on my own. These projects are part of a stream of daily content, including videos, pictures and graphics to promote highlights from practice, exciting plays in games, behind the scenes stories with the players, and numerous other works.

I worked this past Summer as a seasonal guest services associate for one of the largest wineries in Washington, Chateau Ste Michelle. This role was incredibly valuable in giving me hospitality and service industry experience because I worked in a different role every day. One day I would pour and serve wine, the next I would be bussing dishes and washing plates and glasses. I did these, I took food and drink orders, I collected payments, I sold retail wine, and overall did a variety of tasks that most food and dining places have specific positions for. Doing such a variety of tasks, at the immense pace of a popular winery during peak Summer hours, has well-prepared me for any service industry position.

I served for a semester as an event planning and marketing intern for the WSU International Programs' International Center. In this role, I organized and then facilitated events to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for students to participate in activities that foster inclusivity and promote tolerance and acceptance. These events included coffee hour meet and greets, different cultural holiday celebrations, group trips to campus events and venues, guest speaker appearances from across the Pullman community, and multiple other engaging events. I further assisted with the marketing and promotion of these events, working with the marketing team to develop promotional fliers and a weekly IC newsletter, and taking photos and videos for social media platforms as well.

I served in this unpaid role for my fraternity, Phi Sigma Kappa. In this role, I monitored and created content for our chapter's official social media platforms. I filmed and edited recap videos of Greek community events, created graphics advertising our chapter's events, took pictures of members participating in chapter events, and overall promoted the chapter's functions over social media. Also in this role, I communicated with chapter alumni and advisors, providing them updates on the wellbeing of the chapter and asking for help promoting the chapter's history.

I worked multiple times for food vendors at Centurylink (now Lumen) Field for Seattle sporting and entertainment events. This was a volunteer role to help raise money for my graduating class, but it gave me great experience in the food and beverage service industry. In the front-of-house role, I calculated amounts due for orders and accepted cash and credit card payments, but further, I collected and finished preparing the food orders from the kitchen, ensuring the orders were correct and adding any side orders, drinks or other accessory items requested before delivering them to the customers. In the back of house role, I did prep-cook work, doing tasks for the main cooks, chopping vegetables, and organizing dishes. I performed all of these duties in a fast-paced and high-volume game day environment, providing a constant stream of customers with their food as asked for, in a timely manner, and always with fantastic customer service skills.

This was my first paying job when I was 16 years old. I began as a seasonal employee for the holiday season, then was kept on to help out as the company went out of business. This was a great opportunity to gain experience in the working world from a young age. I learned to manage my time, communicate with supervisors, and overall be a part of the working world. On the job, I developed my customer service skills greatly as a cashier and sales associate. It gave me experience handling money, helping resolve customer conflicts, assisting customers with their shopping, and overall providing a positive experience for customers.
