About Samuel Wan

I am an aspiring software engineer pursuing a BS in Computer Science at the University of the Pacific. I have experience with AI development, data analytics, and software engineering through internships at Britive, Inc. and Landing International. Skilled in C++, Python, and Java, and combined with a strong foundation in mathematics, my passion is to leverage technology in order to solve complex problems and create impactful solutions. At Britive, I am updating the SDK to keep pace with the current software version of the Britive platform and am developing a system portal with customer data analytics which we aggregate from multiple database types, including SQL, DynamoDB and Amazon Athena. Landing International gives me the opportunity to work as a full stack product developer, quickly prototyping new products that will be integrated into the Landing ecosystem. Most recently, I created a website with React JS and Tailwind CSS that utilizes AI to summarize product videos in order to enhance the consumer buying experience.One of my projects involves a quantum computer simulation in Python. This quantum computer simulation will emulate a version of Shor's algorithm in order to create a predictive timeline of when RSA encryption will become obsolete.I play StarCraft II and found an interesting aspect in the game that I thought could be optimized. StarCraft has a very prominent scene of professional players who exhibit robotic consistency to perform complex tasks and win the game. This inspired me to create a bot that emulates some aspects of these professionals. I trained the bot with neuroevolution to mimic the playing level of an intermediate Starcraft player.As a hobby, I code video games. One such game is a single player open world exploration game built from scratch in Java. Players explore an infinitely generated world where every piece of the world is unique. Throughout the world players can find enemies to fight, collect special items like swords and wands, and even encounter bosses inside castles.In my spare time I enjoy participating in cybersecurity Capture the Flag events, such as picoCTF hosted by CMU. I recently shared my CTF experiences with the University of the Pacific computer science club (see deck under Projects) and even created my own CTF puzzles. I am looking forward to participating in Cal Hacks 11.0 to which I was recently admitted and I am excited to see all the creative builds by the other students.
