I worked for over two years as a Small Business Development Consultant in the Republic of Moldova for the United States Peace Corps, Partnering with an organization created by the World Bank, I helped small business owners in rural communities develop the necessary business skills to successfully navigate a market based economy. Some of my projects in Moldova included:• Developed and financed a small business model through a USAID grant to assist 10-15 local farmers in creating profitable small scale rabbit farms.• Collaborated with the Agency for National Rural Development of Moldova consulting small business owners and farmers on improving the capacity of their businesses and teaching basic financial skills as well as conducting seminars and other informational sessions with experts from around Europe.• Funded and constructed a sports park, in collaboration with the local government, which was the first public construction project in the community since the soviet era.• Improved financial and business practices of local Moldovan bee-keepers in collaboration with a Dutch based non-profit. While in Moldova, I became fluent in Romanian and worked hard to integrate into the culture of my community as well as be an ambassador and positive example of American culture.
