Sam is a Los Angeles based drummer/musician originally from his hometown of Bonney Lake, Washington. Sam fell in love with music at a very young age and decided to pursue the drums in elementary school band. From that point he has been fascinated with the drums and becoming a better drummer and musician. Throughout his junior high and high school career, he was a part of the music program. In high school, Sam was asked to be the captain of the drum line and also write the cadences for competitions. Through the hard work that Sam and his fellow drum line members put forth, numerous percussion awards including “best drum line” were achieved. At age sixteen, Sam auditioned for a well-established band in Seattle at the time, and landed the gig, allowing him to grow more and more as a player. While still attending Bonney Lake High School, and working with his band in Seattle, at age seventeen Sam received a call that would give him one of the greatest learning experiences of his life. A band was in need of a drummer to tour for three months around the U.S.A. Sam auditioned and got the spot! He packed up his things and said goodbye to his very supportive parents and hit the road. Just coming off the road before his 18th birthday, Sam joined back up with his Seattle band and started gigging in Washington. In 2009 Sam recorded the album “Encounter the Monolith” by Martriden (The band Sam toured with the previous year.) “It was musically challenging and technically suspenseful.” The album went on to have great reviews! (Album available at www.martridenrocks.com) At age 19, Sam decided to push his drumming career to its full potential and further his education. He enrolled at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA. During his short time in LA, Sam has played with different groups and singer/songwriters in famous venues such as “The House of Blues” and “The Whisky a Go-Go” and has also gotten a chance to meet some of his heroes in the drumming world.
