Schilling Robotics, a business unit within TechnipFMC, is playing a key role in revolutionizing deepwater productivity through the design and manufacturing of the worlds most innovative and productive subsea ROVs and robotic manipulators.

Formula SAE is a competition series put on by the Society of Automotive Engineers in which student engineering teams compete to design and manufacture a single seat, open wheel race car with the best all around package of design, manufacturing, performance and cost. The FSAE series creates an environment in which students are forced to develop economic solutions to complicated engineering issues. The challenges of completing the car help students to learn a great deal about project management, communication, and leadership.Managed the complete redesign of suspension components for the HR2018 competition car. The design is focused on reducing un-sprung mass without compromising the systems stiffness. Overall, a 24% reduction in mass was achieved while simultaneously increasing strength and stiffness in order to withstand increased loads from the incorporation of an aerodynamics package. Emphasis was placed on strong documentation in order to begin development of a searchable knowledge base, and the use of program tools to increase design iteration speed for future generations of Hornet Racing members.

As Technical Director, I served as the director the engineering, testing, and development of the car, as well as ensured that system leads were making strides to further develop systems and hit key performance targets. This included finding ways to improve system integration and packaging, developing new organization tactics, improving team structures, overall team and project management, and the creation of the overall vehicle CAD model.

As a shop technician, I supervised the machining processes and safety precautions employed by students in the shop. Additionally I provided demonstrations, safety training, and advice on manufacturing processes for various class, club, or research related projects in the engineering department.
