My multifaceted role spans academia, industry, and community engagement, aiming to bridge gaps and transform ideas into impactful solutions that benefit society.Professional Journey:My journey in academia began with a PhD in Applied Immunology, focusing on immunological markers and their implications in asthma. This foundation led to key positions, including Senior Lecturer and Research Leader at Nottingham Trent University, where I led advanced modules in disease diagnostics and health. Recognised for teaching excellence, I participated in the Vice-Chancellors' Future Research Leaders Programme and have consistently demonstrated exceptional research acumen.Leadership and Innovation:At the CAI, I manage and guide the implementation of projects that integrate scientific expertise with innovative solutions, addressing the needs of commercial clients and academic research. As Deputy Director, I oversee strategic initiatives that align with CAI's mission to be a premier hub for technological and societal progress. My role involves coordinating interdisciplinary teams, supervising PhD candidates, and fostering a collaborative environment conducive to cutting-edge research and professional development.Research Contributions:My research contributions span a broad spectrum, from developing novel immunodiagnostic assays to advancing subunit and mRNA vaccines. I have been instrumental in optimising diagnostic tests for clinical settings and producing recombinant proteins and antibodies. My work in lateral flow tests has revolutionised point-of-care diagnostics. Additionally, I have led government advisory reports in MedTech, participated in clinical trials, and engaged in translational research initiatives.Publications and Outreach:I am an active contributor to the scientific community, with numerous publications in high-impact journals and presentations at international conferences. My outreach efforts include media engagements with outlets like The Times, The Telegraph, BBC, and BBC Radio 4, where I simplify complex scientific concepts for the general public.
