Leading the RSPBs aspirations for a rapid deployment of renewable energy deployment at sea in harmony with nature, reversing the declines of UK seabird populations. Progressing the vision set out in Powering Healthy Seas paper (2022) into meaningful action for building resilience in seabird populations, driving effective policy into practice, creating key positioning and advocating for change at a UK level. Leading policy development and advocacy to drive Nature Positive offshore wind, establishing what this looks like and a pathway to delivery, working closely with industry, fellow NGOs and across the BirdLife ECA partnership. Key focus: Effective Marine Spatial Planning, "Nature Positive" offshore wind deployment and effective delivery of Net Gain measures for seabirds.

Specialising in Offshore Wind. Support the UK component of a long-term project for a Nature Positive energy transition, working with NGO's and industry across the North Sea, to influence at a government and industry level, facilitating a gold standard for offshore wind in the UK. Key Responsibilities: - Leading the development of RSPB’s position on Nature Positive offshore wind through internal workshops, position documents and working closely with internal teams to align with wider Nature Positive messaging. - Coordinated and co-authored the production of Powering Healthy Seas report highlighting the need for sustainable and equitable sea management, establishing a high-level vision for accelerating offshore wind and harnessing ambition for healthy seas. - Coordinated and produced a short film to showcase the findings of the report, including animations and interviews, to a wider audience across social platforms, conferences and webinars. - Facilitate the RSPB’s involvement in EU industry and NGO relationships through the Offshore Coalition for Energy and Nature (OCEaN) and through our BirdLife partners. - Representing our work and the RSPB on multiple occasions on national and international platforms giving presentations, webinars and presenting at conferences to industry and government representatives, most recently in Brussels, London and Belfast.

Planning and delivery of multi-channel fundraising and supporter communications, including activity owner and editor of two RSPB supporter magazines (Impact and Fellows' News), generating engaging content to target defined audiences, showcasing the RSPB's global work, in both digial and hard copies. - Briefing, selcting and analysing data to ensure our supporters recieve relevant messages via relevant channels to help achieve financial targets. - Forecasting and managin expenditure budgets to achieve targets and deliver income to enable our conservation work. - Assisting in additional supporter communications channels such as Notes on Nature TV achieveing in excess of >15,000 views, current project: assisting with the delivery of Big Garden Birdwatch Live (the world's largest wildlife survey)

March 2020 COVID-19 resulted in termination of all residential volunteering within RSPB Arne. Due to the flexibility of my role I was able to continue working at RSPB Arne as a volunteer from home and I am now employed by the RSPB to continue doing this role. I work alongside the Visitor Experience Officer to create comms plans, which was particularly important during lockdown to create relatable and engagement content. I also assist with weekly duty manager checks on the reserve to ensure all buildings, fences, hides etc are safe and secure. I was recently offered a paid position to continue doing this role and assisting with running the reserve on the weekends (busy periods).I have also been assisting with RSPB England and HQ comms teams doing Facebook lives and producing/presenting/editing educational and promotional videos for their Big Wild Sleepout campaign.

Arne Nature Reserve, Poole

The Arne Nature Reserve is one of Dorset's flagship reserves due to its range of habitat's including open Heathland, boasting the presence of all six UK native reptiles, largest breeding colony of Spoonbills and the Dartford Warbler. My role at Arne is as a residential volunteer focussing on community engagement, working on public events throughout the year (such as most recently, a Reptile Day which included locating and capturing 5/6 UK reptiles to show, and releasing the reptiles back to their original location with licensing from Natural England), guided walks/talks, social media publishing and general visitor experience.

Scouting out a potential filming location for the BBC and Wild Britain Productions' "Wild Isles" series airing in 2023. Couple of days a week for 5/8 hours. Reporting back sightings if successful - end result was limited hobby sightings.

Dunedin, New Zealand

The Royal Albatross centre is a world known conservation reserve, home to the only mainland colony of Royal Albatross. One of the main focusses is educating visitors on the importance of preserving this species by providing guided tours, of which all proceeds are invested into the Department of Conservation and Otago Peninsula trust, it is a not-for profit charitable trust. It is also part of the LEOTC education project aiming to get school groups involved in the important work. I am involved in both of these aspects.My roles:- Acting Manager. I have taken on more responsibility and managerial roles ensuring that the day plan (aiming to run tours every half hour) will be running smoothly, visitors are kept happy, any potential issues are resolved, and managing my team for the day. - Education Staff. I am part of the team involved in the education programmes operated at the centre. I am currently developing a Plastic Pollution Clean-up education programme based on the work Sustainable Coastlines New Zealand are doing throughout the country. - Royal Albatross Visitor guide. Expert knowledge in Northern Royal Albatross behaviour, breeding cycle, threats and mitigation techniques implemented at the colony at Taiaroa Head. - Penguins Pukekura Visitor Guide. Expert knowledge in Little Blue Penguins behaviour, breeding cycle, threats and the work done in the penguin reserve, managed by the Pukekura Trust. I volunteer as a conservation volunteer for the Pukekura Trust to aid with penguin monitoring and habitat management.
