It's been a while since I've updated this. Covid threw quite a curve ball at everyone, but like with everyone it's not about what happens around you, but how you handle those things. Positivity and finding good in everything makes everyday life easier. In Aug 21 I started my own business, the worst possible time to do that, however it's been the best decision ever. I am intensely grateful for all the help I've received behind the scenes of running your own small business, I'm still learning and loving every minute of the learning process as well as the everyday, chatting and loving the kids, even all the homework and studying etc. My little business has grown and I've learnt a lot about having a passion for what you do and loving the kids and having good relationships with the parents as well. After School Care is all about providing a back up to the school and a very valuable service to the parents of the school. What I have learnt is that I don't like the term 'Aftercare' it leaves one with the feeling of an after thought, with no real importance. After care has vital value, it provides a home from home environment with all the structure of school while homework is completed with assistance from peers or the staff, and there's always oodles of playtime afterwards. The kitchen is always full with fun and laughter and endless discussions on the right way to cook 2 minute noodles. For me day by day is my way of making a difference to the young people. Children are more at risk now than ever before and parents don't know it. My opinion for what it's worth, parenting, teaching, mentoring etc is more important now than ever before. There should be more parenting courses to equip young parents on the risks that are facing children today. But the most important thing is to teach our children love and tolerance, to speak nicely to one another and absolutely no bullying ever!!! If as adults we could love and respect those around us no matter their social position, language, race etc, that would pass on to our children and would teach them that everyone they meet has worth!
