I joined TAFE Digital in the start-up phase to lead a team of 20 instructional designers and developers to create short courses and national qualifications for classroom, workplace, blended and online modalities. My team also developed learning and development products for TAFE employees to build capability.I established a reputation for successfully leading multiple teams working on complex projects with very tight deadlines and constrained resources.I contributed to the development of Agile work methodologies to enhance course development.

I built the course development team from the ground-up - recruiting and coaching approximately 22 learning designers and establishing processes and systems to establish new standards of excellence in scalable online training and assessment.I was a key player in the discussions around how to grow the business during the start-up phase and how to manage the challenges of scale. I had oversight of the course/product development strategy and road map for an ambitious program of new course and course improvement work. All courses delivered on time and within budget.I worked closely with the Manager Quality and Compliance to conduct regular risk assessment of courses and to make recommendations for remedial action to the executive group.The team's products have been scrutinised by ASQA during various audit activities across multiple scopes of registration - we have an enviable track record: zero non-conformance on the courses that we develop and deploy.I worked closely with my digital partners in our technology team (comprising user experience, front-end and back-end developers, Moodle-gurus and web designers) to identify and build technology solutions to deliver training and assessment.I was a key contributor to the design and development of our OpenSpace learning platform particularly in the challenging task of identifying the platform functionality needed to support training of learners in complex vocational skills.I jointly led a step-change in the way that Open Colleges designs for online learning, focusing on mobile solutions for learning and video solutions to address language, literacy and numeracy programs. I regularly conducted professional development activities to improve the technical and specialist knowledge of learning designers.

In most cases, my company undertook the remedial work by developing new training products or providing coaching services to trainers and assessors.

I was responsible for the development and deployment of the Diploma of Management for Talent 2 and the Performance Edge franchise network. My company, Minerva Learning Design, provided training and assessment services for online students who were enrolled under various funding arrangements including state-based traineeships post-launch.Our engaging learning materials and assessments developed specifically for online, work-based learners coupled with inspiring and effective training services achieved a 75% graduation rate (significantly higher than average VET completion rates for online learners).I provided consultation services to the executive training leadership at Talent 2 including internal audit activities, RTO registration and high level copyright compliance advice.

Curriculum Centre - The Muse

This was a massive project: redevelopment of hundreds of pieces of curriculum for the launch of the BSB07 Business Services Training Package. The roll-out of the curriculum and related training products across TAFE NSW was a resounding success leading to improved learner outcomes.

I have extensive experience preparing training products for blended and face-to-face training. I was a passionate classroom trainer - enjoying working with learners from diverse backgrounds and abilities. My classes were fun, energetic and outcome focused. Learners achieved great results: going on to further study, getting a job or progressing their career.
