I have spent my entire professional career focused on the fields of education, school reform, and instructional technology. A former middle school teacher, university lecturer, and professional development specialist, in this role I found myself in a world where I was often in tiny chairs working with little ones – deeply engaged in learning how we can best support our youngest learners during those first few years of school. • Coordinate the selection and appointment of Core Planning, Measurement, and Action Planning Team members for the HKIS Strategic Planning process.• Develop agendas, tasks, and timelines for the work for the Strategic Planning Teams• Plan and facilitate meetings. Keep the school community informed of the Teams’ progress• Communicate and collaborate with HKIS Board members, external consultants (Transformation Systems, Ltd.), and school team members throughout the entire (blended) strategic planning and WASC timeline.

I was lucky to be able to work with the very talented WATR Team - WCCUSD's AT & AAC Team. This field is something I would like to pursue more training in in the near future! Any student with a disability from mild to severe may require assistive technology in order to make progress on individual goals. On the WATR team I was able to apply my knowledge of technology tools and practices in the classroom, online/digital resources, curriculum and best practices in teacher training to help students with a variety of special education needs.

These years shaped the rest of the career in education! I was a middle school language arts teacher on an interdisciplinary technology-based team working with amazing mentors. Totally cutting edge for the nineties and the best on the job training I could have ever asked for as a new teacher. I also taught some reading intervention, French, PE and whatever else they needed to give me as the new teacher on the block and to make our innovative scheduling and use of instructional minutes and teacher collaboration work.
